Atmospheric night desk with a laptop glow — production software engineering mood

Platforms that have to work in production.

I help founders and teams design and ship multi-sided products, payment-heavy systems, and cloud-native backends — then keep them observable when real users show up.

Proof

Work that already shipped.

Start with the platforms. AfroFind and MOMO Lens are the clearest signal. Gravity Fall shows the same delivery bar on a full product build.

Platform · marketplace

AfroFind

Hard part: Listings, providers, events, and trust cannot each be a separate product.

Outcome: A live UK discovery platform with one shared object model for businesses, bookings, and reputation.

SaaS · payments

MOMO Lens

Hard part: Mobile-money flows differ by country, and merchants need a ledger that survives bad networks.

Outcome: Production React Native and NestJS stack with reconciliation, sales, and reporting in select markets.

Game · 3D parkour

Gravity Fall

Hard part: Browser parkour needs honest physics, portal SDKs, and size budgets that still feel distinct.

Outcome: A 3D Babylon.js + Havok climb across four worlds, live in QA and under CrazyGames review.

What you hire

How the work gets done.

The same themes as the rest of the site — platforms, cloud delivery, web and mobile, production. That is the engagement shape.

01

Product platforms

Different actors, different permissions, one product. AfroFind lists UK African and Caribbean businesses for the people trying to find them. MOMO Lens handles sales, mobile money, and reconciliation for merchants.

02

Cloud-native delivery

Serverless backends on AWS: Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS. Defined in Terraform and CDK, with the IAM, networking, and ops work that has to be right before anything goes live.

03

Web and mobile

React, Next.js, and React Native when the product spans web and mobile. Inventory, POS, and reconciliation on a phone that does not assume fast data or a flagship device.

04

Production

Cypress and CI before code reaches production. Dynatrace, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail when something pages. Dashboards and internal tools so one incident does not mean five tabs and a guessing game.

Fit

Who this is for.

Good fit

  • Product platforms with more than one actor (customers, operators, merchants, admins).
  • SaaS or payments work where the ledger and permissions have to hold.
  • Cloud-native backends on AWS that need Terraform/CDK, observability, and clean releases.
  • Founders who want an engineer who can own architecture and delivery, not just tickets.

Usually not a fit

  • Commodity brochure or WordPress marketing sites.
  • Pure design-only or pure content-marketing engagements.
  • Projects that only need a template theme and no production ownership.

Process

How we start.

  1. 01

    Enquiry

Send a short brief on Get started — what you are building, constraints, and timing.

  2. 02

    Hard parts

We talk about the real risks: data model, permissions, payments, infrastructure, and delivery.

  3. 03

    Shape

Agree scope, stack, and what “done” means for the first useful slice.

  4. 04

    Build

Ship in production-minded increments with the same bar as AfroFind and MOMO Lens.

Answers you can cite.

Who is Wez / WezDev?
Wez Kambele is a software engineer based in Manchester, UK, working as WezDev. He builds product platforms, SaaS systems, and cloud-native software — including AfroFind and MOMO Lens.
What kind of projects do you take on?
Multi-sided platforms, payment and reconciliation systems, AWS serverless backends, and production web/mobile apps. AfroFind (UK discovery marketplace) and MOMO Lens (merchant mobile-money operations) are the clearest examples.
Where are you based?
Manchester, United Kingdom. Remote collaboration is normal; UK and Africa-facing product work is a natural fit.
What stack do you use?
TypeScript, Node.js, Next.js, React Native, NestJS, AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS), Terraform/CDK, PostgreSQL, and production tooling such as Cypress, GitHub Actions, CloudWatch, and Dynatrace.
How do I start a conversation?
Use the Get started form with a short brief, or email contact@wezdev.co.uk. A clear problem statement beats a long pitch deck.
Do you build games as well?
Gravity Fall is a shipped browser game (Babylon.js + Havok) under CrazyGames review. Game work is secondary to platforms and SaaS, but it shows full-product delivery.
