The hard parts
- Mobile-money ecosystems differ by country, provider, and whether a transaction arrives as a structured API event.
- Merchants on 2G and 3G need offline-first capture without corrupting the ledger.
- Reconciliation is a matching problem: phone numbers, amounts, timing, duplicates, reversals.
- Automated rails (Flutterwave) and manual SMS reconciliation have to coexist in one product.
What we did
- Built a NestJS platform with Prisma, Redis, RBAC, and dedicated telco adapters plus SMS parsing.
- Designed a reconciliation engine with confidence scoring and scheduled plus real-time matching.
- Shipped React Native with offline queueing, and Next.js for the operator web surface.
- Supported dual payment modes so merchants can mix automated collection with fee-sensitive manual reconciliation.
What shipped
- Production mobile apps on the App Store and Play Store in select locations.
- Coverage designed for seven African markets and 12+ mobile-money providers.
- A full merchant loop: sales, payments, matching, receipts, expenses, and reporting.
